Beyond The P!nk!

Beyond the Pink is my little voice against patriarchy prevalent in societal structures of years, patriarchy which is not only ingrained by men of society for their favors but well-nourished and nurtured by women against other women. A little voice to break the shackles of stereotypes of Blues and Pinks, which superficially covers the underneath spread of 50 shades of grey. A little voice to understand where and what is the positioning of women who think beyond pink? Who tick-marks all traits of women and possess all qualities of men, who doesn't decipher the difference between genders, who believes in a woman's strength is equally important as the vulnerability of a man, in a nutshell, who believes in humanism as is without labels and tags!

There are stories around privileged classes that forget about not-so-privileged ones—the stories that wrench the heart if sometimes role-reversal would be allowed. Let the rules be swapped, let the rights be interchanged, let people's tone around redirect, and watch the show now! How different would the world be?

God knows why Lakshmana in Ramayana drew a line around Sita, which became the norm to draw boundaries around girls and women? Or why only Sita had to give Agni Pariksha for staying away from Rama, wasn’t Rama staying away from her for the same duration? Why the test on her, doesn't apply to him? Who gives a clean chit? Self-proclaimed, self-designed, self-obsessed rules !!!

Then there are stories of enduring women who fight all the odds; giving in is not an option. However, lines you draw or sketch the walls around them, thick, thin, wide, broad, high, they make their way; they know how to break the glass ceiling! But can one imagine the exhaustion to reach the point where the counterpart was reaching having a brisk walk? But one thing is sure, the more shackles she breaks, the more muscles she flexes! That’s the strength which one ignites within, perhaps for the fire in the belly is stronger than the fire around them.

The problem arising in another dimension is fake-feminism, the instant upgrade of feminism done in the wrong way is doing more harm than good. Objectifying women, or treating them as commodities or women doing so, on their own for quickly moving up the ladder, has its own nuances on the hardworking lot out there making their growth by grit and courage. Media makes TRP out of it, so again, real ones suppress themselves to be counted in wrong ones. It takes so much to become the one that eventually one closes heart valves. It’s not about attitude or version 1.0 or old school. It’s about her personal choice and standards to set what her conscience allows.

I was reading somewhere, Indira Nooyi or Sheryl Sandberg’s interview (not quoting)

That because women don’t see other women in role models, hence they don’t have someone to look upon. Not even 1% make up to top management or have leadership roles.

The poster women we see in magazines are another story to weave company face or paid adverts. Why cannot women have organic growth the way they wish to be. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. I am not trying to be a crusader or something, but just wishing what’s the birthright of every human being.

Beyond the pink is an attempt to actually show what girls with dreams can do, if not restricted to traditions and pre-conceived notions about females. To break the shackles of stereotyping of women and fitting them in boxes made by others. Let’s liberate in our own capacities, the way we want!
